Cytokines - Cytokines are small proteins that are crucial in controlling the growth and activity of other immune system cells and blood cells such as interferon, interleukin, and growth factors, which are secreted by certain cells of the immune system and have an effect on other cells. Cytokines are elevated or ‘overexpressed’ causing an imbalance. MSCs help to dissipate cytokines.
