Adipose Tissue Stem Cells Unlock New Treatment for Multiple Sclerosis

Adipose tissue stem cells have made the news again. This time, researchers have been able to use fat stem cells in treatment for a disease that has baffled medical professionals for years – Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disease.  It causes inflammation and scar-like lesions on a person’s central nervous system (CNS).

There is no cure for this disease and treatment often fails to ease the suffering or slow the progression of the disease.

Researchers have been working diligently to find ways to treat people with this disease. Now, they may have finally found some hope in an unlikely place: body fat.

Body fat contains stem cells, or cells that are programmed to perform multiple functions when transplanted to different areas of the body.

New Treatment with Mesenchymal Stem Cells From Fat

In a recent press release, a new study has found that mesenchymal stem cells from fat release “growth factors” that help inhibit T-Cell proliferation. Plainly said, these growth factors can actually ease the discomfort caused by Multiple Sclerosis.

While clinical trials have indeed found the therapy safe and effective, some unexpected results were also found: adipose stem cells for the treatment of MS may be much more effective when extracted from younger subjects.

Bruce Bunnell, Ph.D. from Tulane University’s Center for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine made a statement about the study:

“Aging is known to have a negative impact on the regenerative capacity of most tissues, and human MSCs are susceptible to biological aging including changes in differentiation potential, proliferation ability and gene expression.”

“Mice treated with older donor cells had increased inflammation of the central nervous system, demyelination leading to an impairment in movement, cognition and other functions dependent on nerves, and a proliferation of splenocytes [white blood cells in the spleen] compared to the mice receiving cells from younger donors.”

How Your Fat Can Help Secure Your Future

This is truly exciting news that researchers have found a revolutionary new use for adipose tissue stem cells in the treatment of MS! Being able to treat this debilitating and degenerative disease is truly a turning point for sufferers.

How, you may ask? Because now, adipose stem cells are giving patients the upper hand to think ahead and enroll in fat storage for future medical or cosmetic use…and it all begins with ATGRAFT.

How Fat Storage Works

With cryogenic fat storage, patients first have their adipose tissue removed via liposuction from areas of their body where they would like to slim. These areas typically include the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. Once harvested, the adipose tissue is packaged in the plastic surgeon’s office and then sent to an FDA registered cryogenic storage facility for processing.

American CryoStem provides these services through our ATGRAFT program. Once processed and stored at our FDA registered laboratory, the adipose tissue and stem cells are protected and ready to use, at any time, for the rest of your life.

Not only can your stem cells help you in case you develop MS or another medical condition, but you can also use your fat for cosmetic procedures such as lip augmentation, wrinkle fillers, natural breast augmentation, or breast reconstruction after mastectomy.

You can even use your stem cells to improve the appearance of your skin as you age (ask us about U Autologous). But you have to act quickly; your stem cells are only as young as they are today.

Adipose Tissue Stem Cells Offer Endless Options

  • They can be mixed into our exclusive anti-aging skin care products (U Autologous) to leave your skin smoother, softer, and brighter, just like it was when you were younger.
  • Your fat tissue can be processed for autologous fat transfer to the face, breasts, or buttocks.
  • Your tissue can also be used for natural breast reconstruction following mastectomy.
  • Adipose tissue stem cells can be used for personalized medical treatments, as they become available. Just like the treatment for MS that has recently been discovered.

Choose ATGRAFT for Your Future

Modern medical advancements have shown that stem cells truly are the future of regenerative medicine therapies and so much more. With all of these amazing uses for body fat, isn’t it time to invest in your future by enrolling in ATGRAFT?
